Stephen brings over 20 years experience in historic
preservation, cultural resource management, archaeology, and computer science to
the practice. Prior to forming DC Historic Designs, LLC, he was with the Cultural Resources Division of the National Park Service. In the late 1980’s, he founded Hansen Associates, a firm that led the way in the application of 3D computer modeling for
historic preservation and archaeology. He serves as the Architectural Historian for the Capitol Historic Trust, on the Board of Directors of the Friends of Book Hill Park in Georgetown, and is an active member of the Historical Society of Washington, DC. He holds a B.A. from Oberlin
College, an M.A. from The George Washington University, and a professional
certificate in Historic Preservation from Goucher College.
