Staff Stephen Hansen, Principal Stephen brings 15 years experience in historic preservation, cultural resource management, archaeology, and computer science to the practice. He worked at the National Park Service, several cultural resource management firms, and in the late 1980’s, founded Hansen Associates, a firm that for eight years led the way in the application of 3D computer modeling for historic preservation. He serves as the Architectural Historian for the Capitol Historic Trust and on the Board of Directors of the Trust for Architectural Easements and Friends of Book Hill Park in Georgetown. He holds a B.A. from Oberlin College and an M.A. from The George Washington University
Sherri Marsh Johns, Associate Sherri has more than 14 years experience in the fields of architectural research, cultural resource planning, historic preservation law compliance and historic restoration project management. In addition, Ms. Johns teaches Documenting Historic Properties for Goucher College and has more than 10 years experience as a collegiate educator. Pablo Lopez is a fourth generation master carpenter and general contractor. For 15 years he has been vigorously involved in the construction industry, literally from the ground up. Pablo grew up working in his father’s general contracting company and worked in all aspects of the industry, including design, masonry, finish carpentry, and custom painting.
PLA offers a turn key operation, offering professional design and consulting services as well as artisan craftsmanship for your project. Between their mill shop, woodshops, and paint shops, your project components are fabricated, assembled and finished to the highest standards in the industry. PLA uses the highest grade lumbers, glues, fasteners, paints, and finishes and is constantly testing and sampling new products in order to ensure that PLA maintains the cutting edge and highest quality in historic and custom construction.
